May Lui is a master’s graduate in Astrobiology and Planetary Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, having researched the evolution of organic signals of imitation microfossils as they undergo alteration in geochemical processes. Subsequent comparison to some of the oldest extracted microfossils in Europe followed, highlighting potential applications in various fields of Astrobiology, Paleontology, and Geology. Having previously studied Biology and Astronomy for her bachelor’s at the University of Central Florida, she worked on research in origin of life experiments, studying induced polypeptide formation. She aims to continue in one of her many areas of interest including biosignatures, extremophiles, planetary protection, sustainability, and space law. She ultimately aims to improve our understanding of the universe and our role in it, while maintaining the integrity of the environments on each planetary body including here on Earth.
